In the world of Basilda’an, where the skies were adorned with the graceful flight of winged dragon-humanoids known as the Basili, and the forests and plains shimmered with the gold and silver hues of the Daenan, an era dawned with promises of unity and prosperity.
For centuries, the Basili and Daenan coexisted in harmony, sharing the bounties of the land and embracing their unique cultures. It was an age of flourishing trade, cultural exchange, and mutual respect. Their wings and magic intertwined, forging a bond that seemed unbreakable.
But as the years passed and the world’s resources dwindled, whispers of power and greed began to taint the hearts of the Daenan. The once-sacred harmony faltered, replaced by an insatiable thirst for dominance.
It began with subtle disputes over fertile lands, coveted gemstones, and the control of precious magical artifacts. These disagreements soon erupted into open hostilities, as Basili and Daenan clashed in fierce battles, their ancient friendship shattered by the ravages of war.
With each conflict, the chasm between the species deepened, fueled by animosity and the growing desire to eradicate the other. Blood-stained battlefields became the backdrop of their tragic tale, as lives were lost, families torn apart, and the very fabric of their world threatened to unravel.
Amid the chaos, the Daenan devised a sinister scheme, a twisted ploy to deceive their unsuspecting Basili brethren. Proposing an olive branch of peace, they lured the Basili leaders into a grand meeting in the heart of Vallen, a sacred ground that had once symbolized unity.
All gathered, Daenan and Basili alike, but the promised peace was nothing more than a veil of treachery. At the height of the gathering, when hope for reconciliation flickered in the air, the Daenan unleashed an unspeakable horror. Their formidable yet unknowing leader, the mage Viviana, was deceived and unknowingly made a conduit of unimaginable power, used to channel the destructive energies of the other Daenan leaders. The attack decimated the unsuspecting Basili, leaving only a shattered remnant of their once-proud species. Many perished that day, including Viviana herself and the Basili King, Dulad.
In the aftermath of the genocide, the Daenan emerged victorious. Though they lost many of their own to make the ruse more believable, their thirst for power was sated, their hearts forever marred by the darkness of their deeds. With the Basili forced into the shadows, the Commission, a council of five Daenan rulers, rose to prominence. They seized control of the fractured world, molding it according to their whims and establishing five great cities in their namesake — the cities of Zellin, Seda, Safyr, Byalla, and Cerveny.
Now, as the world teeters on the precipice of a new era, the Commission’s rule remains unchallenged. The cities stand as symbols of their dominance, while the surviving Basili, hidden and scarred, yearn for the day they will rise from the ashes and reclaim their birthright.
It is within this tapestry of broken alliances and forgotten dreams that our story begins. Where heroes and villains shall emerge, destinies intertwine, and the echoes of a shattered past shape an uncertain future.
